Frequently Asked Questions
What can you expect when you place an order?
Each order is individual. With that, I strive to make sure you are getting a true custom from beginning to end. It starts with a request, a reply, and a conversation. I will share the design directly with you and once approved, keep you aware of the process and timeline.
How are the boards designed, built, and where?
I design the boards using Shape 3D software. I get the blanks cut locally in Huntington Beach. I can use a variety of foam densities and different methods for the core of the board. We will go over options, pro’s vs. con’s, and the process of how it is built without giving away the secret sauce. The boards are then delivered to Morro Bay where the process is turnkey until it is ready to be shipped.
How are boards delivered or shipped?
I have accounts with most major airlines. I typically use Southwest Cargo, although other options could be used in the future. Southwest Cargo has yet to ding or damage a board and the cost is reasonable.
- Shipping is available throughout the U.S.A. including Puerto Rico and Canada.
How long will this take?
Design process is dictated by the customer and his/her needs. Once the blank is set for cutting, expect 1-3 weeks depending how busy the CNC machines are running. The blank will need to be delivered. This is when the lead time officially begins as the blank goes into production. The entire process from this point on is "approximately" 2-3 months total. I always aim to have the boards done sooner than expected always and average is 1-2 months. Lead time varies constantly and I will always be up front on lead time.
Please understand you are not the only order we have. We treat each board separately and seriously. We understand you want and need your craft yesterday. I promise you though, we will get the board to you before you know it. We appreciate your patience

Are their warranties on the boards?
If there is a lamination issue at the decision of the laminator, 270 will resolve and repair. Refunds will not be given if a board cracks, breaks, delaminates, or otherwise fails due to rider abuse, care, heat exposure, or lack of being responsible. With over 30 years of experience building boards and using carbon fiber, our laminators will make that final decision. To date with our lamination, we have had a .02% rate of warranty work on our boards. At the end of the day, you are our customer and do what we can to make it fair, and right.
How much do the boards weigh?
Board weight depends on many factors. For a period within the sport of foiling, weight seemed to be “everything.” Foam densities determine a large part of the final weight. Additional items can add a substantial amount of weight to each board including foot inserts and SUP handles. The good thing is, lamination schedule also determines a large amount of final weight, and we got this dialed for you. We are below or at industry weight standards and typically lower with a strength to weight ratio.
Important information!
These boards are custom. These are high performance builds you are receiving. Each board is custom designed/built. Carbon fiber is not indestructible! Carbon fiber also has a breaking point with abuse. By abuse, we mean physical contact with the ground, a paddle, a wing boom, or simply your body during a wipe out, etc. With that in mind, treat your board with love. If you do "injure" your board, repairs are necessary and rather easy to do. Don't be bummed. We all ding boards. It is part of riding hard and shredding.
Lastly, these are not production boards out of a mold with multiple layers of materials which add weight. Our boards are extremely light and strong. They will last seasons, and we expect them to. Treat them with care and you will ride for seasons!
With the above in mind, extra patching with materials or a denser foam core option are always available for adding durability.
