About The Laminator

Corey Richmond. Quiet. Humble. Laughs occasionally. Master at his craft. It would be silly not to say it runs through his blood starting with his father, Craig Richmond....Surfing and surfboard making is a tradition in the Richmond family. Corey’s father started surfboard shaping in the '70s and has been at it ever since. This proved to be a defining part of the Corey and his brother, Chandler’s, childhood; their father taught them how to ride a wave and how to shape their own boards to do so.
As Corey is the primary laminator for local shapers such as Shane Stoneman (Stoneman Surfboards), Cooper Boneck (Mesa Surfboards), and the infamous Marc Andreini (Andreini Surfboards), we are lucky to have him as the lead from shaping to quality control.
While most of their business as of now is ding repairs for boards (Chandler calls it their "bread and butter"), designing and producing custom boards is the soul of Nautilus. The brothers insist any design is fair game and they often experiment with new styles and materials. However, classic styles of the '70s, '60s, and occasionally even earlier, are what they prefer to emulate.
